Join us for part two of our two-part series on facilitation skills for PFLAG chapter leaders. (Check out part one here!)
In Facilitation Skills for PFLAG Chapters: Going from Good to Great we talked about the core skills that leaders need to ensure that support groups are being led in ways that truly serve participants. In this advanced facilitation session we’ll use common scenarios to demonstrate challenges that many PFLAG support group facilitators face at their monthly meetings.
In this session you’ll:
- Very quickly review support group basics and the role of the facilitator at PFLAG meetings
- Discuss other resources such as the PFLAG Chapter Operations Manual, recorded PFLAG Academy Online sessions, and more that may help support group facilitators deal with major challenges
- Discuss a number of scenarios that PFLAG support groups often experience at their monthly meetings and how to handle them
- Have the opportunity to share with other participants how your chapter manages common challenges such as side conversations, over-sharing, and/or unsolicited advice
