PFLAG is the extended family of the LGBTQ community. We're made up of LGBTQ individuals, family members and allies. Because together, we're stronger.
When Amy's 10 year daughter came out as transgender, she immediately searched for local support. She found PFLAG Fredericksburg and in turn, found her tribe. Being apart of PFLAG helped her find her voice and her passion: supporting families of transgender youth and advocating in school systems for stronger, more inclusive policies.
Amy has worked with Equality Virginia, the ACLU of Virginia, National Center for Transgender Equality, HRC, and GLSEN to advocate on behalf of LGBTQ families in both the State and US Senate. She also established the first parent support group in her area for parents of transgender and gender nonconforming youth.
Amy is excited for the opportunity to work with all of the Mid-Atlantic chapters to help ensure families have all the care and support they need. The same care and support she found with PFLAG.
