PFLAG is the extended family of the LGBTQ community. We're made up of LGBTQ individuals, family members and allies. Because together, we're stronger.
Rev. John Oda is the current Board Chair for Reconciling Ministries Network, having also served in that capacity in 2010-2012. He is an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church and ordained in the Presbyterian Church USA. He holds Masters in Social Work from U.C. Berkeley and a Masters in Divinity from SF Theological Seminary. He is the past Chair of RMN’s United Methodist of Color for a Fully Inclusive Church. He was a past recipient of the Bishop Melvin Talbert Racial Justice Award of the Cal Nevada Conference and past Chair of the Conference Committee on Reconciliation for the Cal Nevada AC and current member of the Cal Nevada Board of Ordained Ministry.
He has served as Adjunct Faculty at the Pacific School of Religion and currently on the national PFLAG Board of Directors. John describes himself as a church-going-drop out who was then called by the Holy Spirit to serve at the local parish – how ironic. In his spare time John loves to work out, garden, hang out with his 16 year old daughter and his 7 year old Bedlington Terrier. He loves to read and watch science fiction action movies with spiritual overtones.
