Intersectionality: The Storm Under the Rainbow
Build the Future
Cate Carabelle, Psy.D and Knox Hall, Golden Triangle Transgender Support
Workshop Block 4: Sunday, October 22 - 8:00 am - 9:30 am
Salon H

Intersectionality is the idea that multiple identities intersect, creating a whole of an individual. Understanding what intersectionality can help us understand how systemic discrimination and social injustice occur on a multidimensional level. This workshop is about understanding that people are more than the one obvious identity people can see and that every identity of a person needs to be acknowledged. Acknowledgement of one’s identity intersection is one of the first steps to understanding how the community can work to take all these intersections and create an inter-union for those that fall under the LGBTQIA+ rainbow.
